Richard R. Rosenthal, M.D., F.A.C.P

Dr. Rosenthal received his undergraduate education and Master’s degree from Rutgers University and his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York.  He interned and took his residency in Internal Medicine at Kings County Hospital and at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York City.  He completed his fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  He served two years at the National Institutes of Health in the National Cancer Institute in both clinical and laboratory research. Dr. Rosenthal is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins school of Medicine and Chief of the Allergy Section of the Inova Fairfax Hospital. He is the author of over fifty publications and holds three patents on medical devices. His major professional interests involve the practice of medicine and clinical pharmacology research.  He has a special interest in asthma.  Dr. Rosenthal was selected to “Best Doctors of the United States” and has been listed repeatedly in the Washingtonian Magazine’s “Washington’s Best Doctors” and Washington Checkbook.  He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is board certified in Allergy and Immunology.  He is married with a daughter in college, and yes, he has a cat.

Ana Maria Saavedra-Delgado, M.D.

Dr. Saavedra-Delgado received her undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees, with honors, from the University of Puerto Rico.  She interned at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in Internal Medicine.  Her residency in Internal Medicine was at the University of Puerto Rico District Hospital.  She completed her Allergy fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Dr. Saavedra-Delgado completed eight years at the National Institutes of Health in the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases performing clinical and laboratory research.  Additionally, she worked for six years in the Food and Drug Administration reviewing new pulmonary and allergy drugs.  She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Allergy Clinic at Georgetown University.  Dr.  Saavedra-Delgado is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in medicine, a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.  She is also a Fellow in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.  She is married with three young adult children and is fluent in English and Spanish.

Richard A. Nicklas, M.D.

Dr. Richard A. Nicklas received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his doctor of Medicine from George Washington University Medical School.  He interned at George Washington University Hospital and completed two years of a residency at George Washington University Hospital before doing his final year of an internal medicine residency and two years of a fellowship in allergy and immunology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Between his internship and residency, Dr. Nicklas trained in allergy and immunology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and ran an allergy clinic in the army for two years, for which he received the Army Commendation Medal.  He is currently on the full time staff at George Washington Medical Center where he is a Clinical Professor of Medicine.  In addition, he is Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS).  For thirty years he was a Medical Officer in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research of the FDA, where he received the Commendable Service Award.  Dr. Nicklas is board-certified Allergy and Immunology.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and has received the AAAAI Special Recognition Award.  He is also a fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) and has received their Distinguished Service Award and Distinguished Fellow Award.  He has also received the James J. Leonard Award for Excellence in Teaching Internal Medicine at USUHS.  Over the past ten years he has been a mentor in the Practice of Medicine Course at GWUMS.

Penelynne T.  Flores, B.C.F.N.P.

Ms. Penelynne T. Flores, B.C.F.N.P. received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University and a Master of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in conjunction with the George Washington University School of Medicine.  She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.  She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Honor Society of Nursing.  She has five years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner and has extensive experience in patient care.  Ms. Flores is available to treat children and adults at both our Fairfax and Reston offices.
